What is Spiritual Guidance?
Spiritual Guidance offers a time and place to reflect with another about your spiritual life and your relationship with God. It focuses on coming home to your deepest self and developing a deeper awareness of the presence of Divine Mystery in life. Many of us long for a more conscious awareness and openness to the experience of Divine presence in our daily lives. This encounter can be a powerful relationship and space that nurtures and feeds this longing. The practice is often referred to as Spiritual Direction and Spiritual Accompaniment, Spiritual Guidance is offered to those who wish to enrich their lives and awaken to a deeper relationship with the Divine. It usually takes place in one-to-one or a small group setting.
Although the practice is deeply rooted in the Christian tradition and is enriched by Anamchara in the Celtic tradition, spiritual guidance is open to people of all faiths and would be of benefit to anyone who wishes to deepen the spiritual lives. The An Croí programme seeks to be ecumenical and to be open to the inter-spiritual perspective. The language of the “Divine” or ‘Divine Mystery’ is often used to name the unnameable and refers to the God of many different names in various traditions. The Spiritual Guide usually engages with the language of the Guidee ( the person coming for guidance). An Croí Spiritual Guidance is characterised by contemplative listening and an engagement with creative modalities while attending to the whole person in a spirit of hospitality and soulfriendship.
