About An Croí
An Croí Wisdom Institute tends to wisdom for heart and soul, in both personal and professional life, by offering psycho-spiritual training, spiritually enriching programmes, retreats, CPD workshops and one-to one accompaniment. An Croí was established almost thirty years ago by Dr. Geraldine Holton and Ms. Carmel Boyle and over the years they have been innovative and inspirational educators and spiritual animators. They have had a remarkable ability to adapt to a constantly changing spiritual and professional landscape. Their work blends wisdom from the disciplines of psychotherapy and spirituality and brings together their extensive training, vast experience and complementary talents. Participants describe programmes as ‘a unique and powerful transformative experience’. Training for the practice of spiritual direction/guidance and professional supervision is central to the offerings, while creativity and contemplative practice are core to all their programmes.
Dr. Geraldine Holton has a great passion for Supervision, and she is a master trainer, author, and researcher in the field. Her other great passion is creativity, which for her is a powerful contemplative practice and an evocative and transformative tool for professional practice. Her creation of the modalities of Soul Garden/Wisdom’s Garden demonstrates this. The Wisdom Model of Supervision, which she developed and Cross-Professional Supervision, a term, she coined as part of her doctoral research, bring together both her wisdom and experience. She is a trained Supervisor, Spiritual Guide, Psychotherapist, Jungian Sand Tray Therapist, and SoulCollageTM facilitator. She is the key tutor for Supervision Training, Creative Soul Care Practices, The Art of Group Facilitation and various CPD workshops at An Croí.
Ms. Carmel Boyle is a singer/songwriter with more than a dozen spiritually oriented recordings to her credit. Her passion is for Celtic Spirituality and Christian mystics, which inspire both her song and the many retreats she offers both online and in person. She performs her songs in concert and facilitates retreats internationally. She also is a trained Spiritual Guide / Director, Cross-Professional Supervisor and Life-Cycle Celebrant. She is key trainer on the An Croí Spiritual Guidance training programme and lead tutor for spirituality programmes at An Croí.
Tending Wisdom describes the ministry of An Croí. Programmes are enhanced by leading international and experienced Irish presenters. Programmes are credited as having high professional and academic standards while adhering to best practices and attending to different learning styles. Their professional training programmes meet the requirements of many professional bodies including Supervisors Association of Ireland and All Ireland Spiritual Guidance Association. Rather than just acquiring knowledge, An Croí programmes seek to develop, share, and honour the innate wisdom in each person.
An Croí provides a space for reflective learning, blending theory and experiential learning, in a creative, nurturing learning environment, whether that be online or in person. An Croí programmes are a hybrid learning experience blending online Zoom, an excellent online learning platform and the ability to accommodate both online and in-person simultaneously when required. An Croí has opened programmes and retreats to participants from across the globe, and Geraldine and Carmel have mastered the skill of very effective online engagement.
